A Piece of My Heart

In life’s journeys you meet a lot of people. Some people you forget right away or don’t remember very well or just plain lose touch with due to time and distance. It’s not your fault or even theirs. It just happens. But then, there are those special people. Those people that you don’t meet very often. But when you do meet … sometimes in the most unlikely of ways, … you know right away that they are special. Without even trying, they touch your heart in a way that others don’t. It’s like they were meant to be a part of your life and you a part of theirs. Time and distance don’t matter. You want to be there for them, even when you can’t. You want to do everything you can to help them, even when you can’t. You want the best for them, even if you can’t make it happen. You think about them. You pray for them. And you never forget them. When they move on in their travels, or you yours, … and so often way too soon for your liking … you know you’ve left a piece of your heart with them. Somewhere out there in the world a little of you is traveling around with them.

So to the South African fair workers I met this week, I left a piece of my heart with you. To the Pittsburg fair worker I met this week, I left a piece of my heart with you. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to do so. Thank you for showing me that I can give more of myself, that my heart is bigger and plenty big enough to be shared. I love you guys!!

Psalm 61:2

Sometimes life throws you a curveball that you never thought you’d see coming. You know, those curveballs that really hurt when they hit you because, you trusted much and loved much and now it all seems for naught. Why people do the things they do in the ways that they do them will always be a mystery. But one thing is not a mystery. And that is the love of God. He promises to always be there for us. God will never betray any of His own, for He is our Rock & Fortress … we can run to Him and be safe.

End of Winter | Beginning of Spring

“For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land; The fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell…” Song of Solomon 2: 11-13

With Spring just around the corner, the anticipation of what’s to come is extra high. And so it should be. Spring means warmer weather, sunshine, and color, lots of it; color in leaves, flowers, grass, greenery, growing fruits, vegetables, and so on. With the end of winter comes the beginning of life. And I am so grateful. I am reminded that no matter what I may go through in life, God will always make a new beginning (whether on this earth or in Heaven). With the end of the winter of trials comes the spring of newfound joy and peace in the Saviour. He does indeed make all things beautiful in His time.
